What kind of packaging can I use?

You can use either suitcases or strong cardboard boxes, or a mixture or both.

Suitcases

You can use either hard or soft luggage, as long as all of the straps are tucked in or removed. Holdalls and rucksacks are not recommended. The suitcase should not be locked. The contents of your packages may need to be verified by Customs and/or the courier. Please do not use plastic or laundry-style bags

Boxes

Please utilise double-walled boxes rather than single-walled (crisp style) boxes. Please avoid using plastic boxes because they are brittle. If you need to buy boxes, we have some suggestions for you at an additional cost.

What can I send?

Most personal effects can be sent with Bookmybaggage, but there are some items that cannot be sent. You may find a list of them here. Fragile objects, liquids, and aerosols are among the products we do not recommend delivering (deodorant cans). We recommend just sending in the original manufacturer's packing for electrical devices like TVs, as these are not covered by our reimbursement policy. Musical instruments can be sent; however, we recommend shipping them in travel cases because they are not covered by our compensation policy.

Per item, you can send up to 30kg. Please double-check that your item does not exceed this weight limit, as the driver may refuse to pick up an overweight item (unless you have paid extra for a different service).

How do I pack it all up?

Please cover each individual item with bubble wrap, cardboard, or other protective materials. Spread heavier objects, such as books, across the entire package by using garments to space them out. Make sure the thing isn't overstuffed. We have a 30kg weight allowance, so please only bring as much as your suitcases or cardboard boxes can safely hold. If an item separates, it can cause your shipment to be delayed multiple times.

Use plenty of packaging tape (brown tape) instead of sellotape if you're utilising a cardboard box. Do not overlap the flaps of the boxes; this weakens the box and makes it more likely for the contents to leak.

If you're using a suitcase, make sure it's closed and all handles and straps are taped down. Please do not lock your baggage because it might be returned to you. The contents of your package may need to be verified by customs and/or the courier partner.

How to measure volumetric weight?

If your parcel is large in size and light in weight, the delivery price may be calculated by the parcel’s volumetric weight rather than its actual weight. To calculate the volumetric weight, use the formula below:

Volumetric Weight = Length x Width x Height / 5000

Parcel weight is rounded up to the nearest kilo. The greater of the two weights will be used for the parcel delivery cost.
